What this extension does

CI Echo Subtitles overlays live translated captions from a CI Echo session onto Google Slides presentations. It is the companion extension to CI Echo, Chadwick International's internal live-translation tool.

Data collection

This extension does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal information, browsing activity, or page content. It contains no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising.

What stays on your device

Your own settings — the session room code you paste, your chosen languages, subtitle size, and position — are saved locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. They never leave your device except as described below, and you can remove them at any time by uninstalling the extension.

Network connections

While subtitles are switched on, the extension opens a single encrypted WebSocket connection to the school's own translation gateway (ci-echo-cf-gateway.songdo-technology.workers.dev) to receive the live caption text for the session you joined, and may contact the CI Echo web app (ci-echo.songdo-technology.workers.dev) to read that session's configured languages. The room code you pasted is sent to identify the session — nothing else is transmitted.

What it does on Google Slides

The content script runs only on docs.google.com/presentation pages. It draws the subtitle overlay on top of the presentation and does not read, record, or modify any content of your slides or your Google account.

Audio

The extension has no microphone access and captures no audio. Speech is captured only by the presenter, inside the CI Echo web app, with their explicit action.
